children's illustration, drawing, illustration

I’ve been busy with several projects lately and haven’t posted for awhile. I should not over think this activity and just throw something out there. I want to share some preliminary sketches that were created in preparation for some finished artwork that I did recently. I love doing pencil sketches and I love seeing other artists sketches. In my case they usually have so much more energy than the finished pieces.

Thanks for sharing Cary. These are great. They possess a life of their own. I mean they seem alive. I hope you keep passing these on. They’re an inspiration.

I can’t figure out if I failed to find all of the sketches. Is it just these three or are there more?

I particularly like the pondering dog/mouse creature.

I can just imagine this little dog’s movements
And sounds! Seeing it surprised me and I responded with a smile. The full body with the clothes on has a different character. The soft pencil lines really add to the expression and suggestion of motion. Very nice (and dare I say) sweet!
